The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development or HUD in affiliation with the Loan Modification Scam Prevention Network launched a tool that homeowners looking foreclosure may find helpful to fight against loan modification scams.
The complaints are recorded online will be added to a nationwide database and promoted to the suitable law enforcement organization for evaluation. It is projected that the website will assist about 50,000 homeowners distressed by scams. HUD has also planned local fair housing and housing guidance grantees to start reporting suspected loan modification scams.
